Senior Paralegal - Healthcare

Location & Compensation

  • Location: Carlsbad, CA (Fully On-Site)
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 (DOE)

Position Overview

A growing healthcare company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Paralegal to join its in-house legal team. This individual will play a critical role supporting a broad range of legal and compliance functions in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly independent, and experienced in full-cycle contract management, with a strong understanding of healthcare regulatory frameworks and corporate governance practices.


Key Responsibilities

Contract Management (Top Priority)

  • Own and manage the full lifecycle of contracts, including drafting, review, negotiation support, execution, and post-execution tracking.
  • Establish, configure, and maintain the company's Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system, including database creation, reporting, and workflow optimization.
  • Administer contract processes, including electronic signature workflows (e.g., DocuSign).
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (legal, finance, operations, and leadership) on contract-related matters.
  • Support drafting and negotiation of a variety of agreements, including:
    • Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
    • Master Services Agreements (MSAs)
    • Vendor, supplier, and commercial agreements

Corporate Governance & Compliance

  • Assist with board and committee meeting preparation, including managing board portals and maintaining minutes and governance records.
  • Support compliance with healthcare regulations and industry standards, including:
    • HIPAA
    • Anti-Kickback Statute
    • AdvaMed guidelines for interactions with healthcare professionals
  • Manage and coordinate state and federal regulatory filings.
  • Assist with SEC reporting (including Section 16 filings), as applicable.
  • Support preparation of the proxy statement and annual stockholder meeting.

Operational & Administrative Support

  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized and accurate legal records, documentation, and filings.
  • Provide support for stock/equity administration in partnership with finance.
  • Assist with intellectual property matters as needed.
  • Develop and improve legal processes and workflows to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Support broader legal team initiatives and cross-functional projects.

    • Microsoft Office and SharePoint

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program strongly preferred
  • Certified Paralegal (CP) or Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP) is a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of paralegal experience
  • At least 3+ years in a healthcare, medical device, biotech, or life sciences environment
  • In-house experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle contract management
  • Experience with board portals and contract management systems is required
  • Familiarity with FDA, HIPAA, and healthcare regulatory frameworks
  • Prior experience supporting a medical device organization is a plus
